As we head from spring to summer, we’re surrounded by gorgeous flowers everywhere. But why not create some handmade blooms that will last well past nature’s floral season? For this month’s Create It Yourself Feature, we’ve found four flower projects for you to try. And, because you wouldn’t expect anything less from FCS, they’re all designed by incredible women with small businesses here in the UK.
Origami peonies kit by Origami Est
Peonies have got to be one of the most popular flowers at this time of year (just look at Instagram for the proof!), but their natural season is really short lived. It usually starts around late-April, and then by mid-June (maybe late-June or into July, if you’re lucky) it’s all over!
But you don’t need to worry about that because, with this kit by Est from Origami Est (Instagram: @origami_est), you can have gorgeous peonies all year long.
The kit contains enough pre-cut paper to fold three peonies, and comes with an instructions sheet, ribbon, stems, and glue.
Mini flower cross-stitch kit by Thimble & Fabric
With easy-to-follow instructions, this sweet mini flower cross-stitch kit by Jess from Thimble & Fabric (Instagram: @thimbleandfabric) is perfect for beginners and a little creative ‘me time’.
The kit includes everything you need to get started: an illustrated instruction booklet, cross-stitch fabric, needle, threads, and a 3 inch embroidery hoop.
Wooden wildflower painting kit by DaphneRosa
Whether you want some beautiful wildflowers to decorate your own home, or you want to give a loved one some pretty blooms that will last longer than a couple of days, this wooden wildflower painting kit by Kate from DaphneRosa (Instagram: @daphnerosaflowers) might be just what you need.
The kit comes with everything you need to paint a set of five wooden wildflowers, including a helpful video tutorial for beginners.
Cacti needle-felting kit by Bergin & Bath
If you prefer your florals to be less traditional, why not create something a bit quirky and unique with this cute cacti needle-felting kit by Katie and Rach from Bergin & Bath (Instagram: @weareberginandbath).
The kit contains everything you need to make two mini cacti, from a choice of four designs, and is suitable for both beginners and more experienced needle-felters.
From the pretty to the pretty-different, we hope our selection of creative flower projects has inspired you to make something special in the coming weeks and months. You could even try to create a different handmade flower for each room of your home!
