With the 14th of February just a couple of weeks away, we’re going all heart-eyes here at FCS with this month’s Create It Yourself Feature being all about Valentine’s and Galentine’s projects.
Each creative project is perfect for making your other half or best friend feel loved up. Handmake them a finished piece, or give them the gift of a creative kit they can enjoy themselves. Alternatively, why not show yourself a bit of love and create something special just for you.
Here is our little selection of projects we think are perfect for celebrating Valentine’s and Galentine’s day (all designed by wonderful creative women with small businesses here in the UK):
Paper flower template kit by Laura Reed Design
Flowers and Valentine’s day go hand-in-hand… like sweet and salty popcorn, the 00’s and rom-coms, Biscoff® spread and ice-cream (just us?!). However, this year, you can take things to the next level and make the flowers yourself with a paper flower template kit by Laura Reed Design (Instagram: @laurareeddesign).
The kits come with reusable templates, full instructions, and curling tools, all packaged in a cute tin.
Great for both beginners and experienced floral paper-crafters, with Laura’s kit you could make individual stems for all of your friends or even an entire paper bouquet for your favourite loved one.
"Be Gentle With Yourself" embroidery kit by Hello! Hooray!
What better way to show yourself or a friend some love than with a little reminder to practice self-care and kindness.
This joyful embroidery kit by Clare from Hello! Hooray! (Instagram: @hellohoorayblog) features a colourful illustration and the uplifting sentiment ‘Be gentle with yourself’.
The kit comes with step-by-step instructions and everything you need included (except scissors).
Polymer clay heart earring kit by Katrilee
With a silicone mould included, even beginners can create cute heart earrings using this polymer clay kit by Katrina from Katrilee (Instagram: @katrilee_).
The kit comes with enough clay to make up to 30 heart charms… so once you’ve made yourself and your bestie some matching earrings, you can go head and spread more love with charms for all of your friends.
Goldwork lobster brooch deluxe embroidery kit by Hattie McGill
Lobsters are synonymous with love, thanks to Phoebe (if you know, you know!). And, if you like celebrating Valentine’s and Galentine’s day with gifts that are both stunning and a little quirky, this goldwork lobster brooch deluxe embroidery kit by Hattie McGill (Instagram: @hattiemcgillembroidery) will be right up your creative street.
The deluxe embroidery kit includes everything you need to create the gorgeous brooch, so you can start stitching for your loved one in no time… or, if you want one for yourself, maybe not-so-subtly send this blog to your own lobster now to drop a big hint!
Anyone else feeling all lovey-dovey and ready to craft now? We hope these projects have inspired you to try some creativity for Valentine’s and Galentine’s day.
We’ll be back with another Create It Yourself Feature next month but, before then, our Friday Features (sharing the insights and stories of amazing creative women with small businesses in the UK) will be back on the 31st of January.
P.S.
If you haven’t already found us over on Instagram – why not come say hi and give us a follow. We would love for you to join the conversation and help spread the movement.
