Monthly Motivation – 3 ideas for a creative November

3 Ideas for a creative November illustration with leaf rubbing, pie baking, and Christmas card making.

Do you like to get creative with the seasons in mind? At FCS, we do. There seems to be something quite grounding and mindful about focusing on what’s happening around us, tuning in to the time of year, and doing a creative project that makes us part of it. Grounding ourselves and being more mindful are both thought to be really good for our wellbeing… so getting creative with each month as new inspiration, seems like a no brainer to us. With only one week left of November, we’ll keep this ‘monthly motivation’ post short. Here are three ideas you could try for a creative end to November (expect more ideas for future months).

3 ideas for a creative November

1. If wind and rain (and possibly even snow!) hasn’t already got rid of all the nice autumnal leaves in your area, why not create a unique and easy piece of art from a leaf rubbing. Yes, that’s right, we did just mention a creative activity you might last have done as a child… but it’s BECAUSE it’s so simple that it’s good.

2. Before Christmas takes over completely, embrace the last throws of autumn by baking a pie. Whether you make your own pastry from scratch or use shop bought (there’s no judgement here!), and whether you choose autumnal fruits like apples, blackberries, or plums, or opt for the famous seasonal classic: pumpkin – a homemade pie is sure to warm your spirits.

3. Now, although we still advocate holding on to the last of autumn, the end of November is a great time to start some Christmas crafts – especially handmade cards for friends and family. Handy with a paintbrush? Why not create individual mini paintings. Good with scissors and a glue-stick? Try your hand a decoupage or collage. Looking for something sustainable? Reuse sections of cards you’ve been sent for previous Christmases – putting together something gorgeous and more friendly for the planet.

There you go, three simple and seasonal ideas to embrace creativity in the last few days of November. Fingers crossed you’re able to make a little bit of time before the end of the month to give a project a try.
