February, the month of loooove. And before we hear your eyes roll, whether you’re into celebrating Valentine’s or Galentine’s day or not… as we come to the end of a gloomy winter, it’s a great month to show yourself some love and creative self-care. So, here are 5 ideas for a creative February.
5 ideas for a creative February
1. Make clay affirmation hearts. These would be sweet to give a friend, but equally great to keep for yourself – grab some air-dry clay, make little hearts, then paint an uplifting affirmation on each one – like ‘you are loved’ and ‘be you’. Place them around your home (on windowsills, next to the kitchen sink, in your craft drawer) or in your coat pockets. That way, throughout the month, you’ll see little pick-me-ups as you go about each day.
2. Embroider little hearts. Got a dress you’re bored of wearing? A top that no longer fills you with joy? Or maybe an old pair of jeans with a hole? Give those items in your reject pile a second chance to make you smile every time you wear them, by adding some little embroidery hearts (or stars, or flowers, if you prefer).
3. Create a piece of gratitude art. Thankfully, the darkest days are behind us for another year, but it’s still a little while until spring brightens everything up. Help boost your mood by creating a piece of gratitude art. Simply drawer or paint some of your favourite things that you’re grateful for on a piece of paper. Frame it, and put it somewhere visible so you see the reminder every day.
4. Hand paint some letter-paper and envelopes. From bright and colourful patterns to delicate florals, paint whatever takes your fancy and makes you smile. Then, once everything is dry, why not pen a little letter to a friend. Or, as a cute and different idea to help your wellbeing, write a letter to yourself to open in a year’s time.
5. Practice some creative pancakes. With pancake day just a few weeks away (4th March), what better time to start practicing some fun and interesting flavours. Forget the traditional lemon and sugar, or standard maple syrup (though both are very yummy!), go to town creating unique and delicious toppings, or try mixing different treats into the batter.
There we go, 5 ideas for a creative February. We hope you like our suggestions, but the biggest thing we’d like you to take away from each of our Monthly Motivation posts is to just get creating… it doesn’t really matter what. We all know, creativity is great for our wellbeing. So, especially at this time of year when the whether isn’t always our friend, it’s important to make some time for you and get creative.
